Napoli - Corfu Cruise 2024. Repositioning

Day 1: Napoli

This bustling metropolis, located in the south of Italy, boasts one of the most vibrant ports in the Mediterranean. The Port of Naples is not only a gateway to the city's rich cultural heritage but also an access point to the many stunning destinations along the Amalfi Coast.

The historic Santa Lucia district, with its colorful buildings and narrow alleys, is a delightful place to wander and soak up the atmosphere. Just a short walk away is the Piazza del Plebiscito, one of the largest and most impressive public squares in Italy. The grandiose Royal Palace and the ornate Church of San Francesco di Paola are two of the main attractions here.

Day 2: Sorrento

Visitors are greeted with breathtaking views of the Gulf of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, and the picturesque Sorrentine Peninsula. 

Sorrento is also home to several important historical sites, including the ancient Roman ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum, as well as the charming historic center of Sorrento itself.

Day 3.1: Amalfi

Amalfi is the town that gives the name to the area. However, it is not just a starting point to visit the coast: Amalfi town is a historical, beautiful town well worth a visit in itself.

Medieval in origin, Amalfi village saw a time of splendor in the X-XI century, a time when it dominated the trade routes of the Mediterranean.

This success gave it beautiful and important architecture and wonderful landmarks we can still admire.

Day 3.2: Salerno

Salerno cathedral dates back to the 11th Century. Old Town medieval buildings were built on roman ruins. Castello di Arechi was built in the seventh century.

If you are looking for a stunning coastal drive, the Amalfi Coast road is just a few kilometers away from the port of Salerno. This 50 km-long route is one of the most picturesque roads in Europe, winding along the cliffs overlooking the sea and passing through picturesque villages such as Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello.

Day 4: Lipari

Lipari is a small island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea and the main port of the Aeolian Islands, a volcanic archipelago off the coast of Sicily. 

Take a stroll through the narrow streets of the old town, where you'll find quaint shops selling local handicrafts, as well as bars and restaurants serving up delicious Sicilian cuisine.

One of the highlights of Lipari is its rich history, which is on display at the archaeological museum in the old town. Here, you can learn about the island's ancient past, including the Bronze Age settlement that once stood here, and see artifacts from the Greek and Roman periods.

For those who love the outdoors, Lipari offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and exploring the rugged coastline. Take a walk up to the hilltop castle, where you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the island and the sea beyond.

Day 6: Siderno

The town is not only one of the cleanest coastal resorts on the peninsula, so much so that it is in the Legambiente and Italian Touring Club Guida Blu (Blue Guide), but also a charming medieval village, rich in alleys and ancient dwellings.

The upper part of the town is full of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century aristocratic palaces, with their peculiar barrel-vaulted balconies and stone portals.

Day 7: Crotone

The land here has been constantly eroded by the Neto river which flows from the Sila mountains, once a favorite spot for Virgil. This has left many small coves and popular beaches.

Not to miss are the Castle of Charles V (above) and the nearby Archaeological Museum.

The Crotone Cultural Heritage Authority simply title their informative brochure "The Castle" and it really is a bastion on a fortified rock on what was once the ancient acropolis of Crotone until 840 AD. 

The Norman Castle and the dome of the Byzantine Church are the two elements which dominant the skyline and local history.

Day 8: Corfu

Since the 8th century BC the island the Greeks call Kerkyra has been prized for its untamed beauty and strategic location. Ancient armies fought to possess it, while in the early days of modern Greece it was a beacon of learning. Corfiots remain proud of their intellectual and artistic roots, with vestiges of the past ranging from Corfu Town's Venetian architecture to British legacies such as cricket and ginger beer.
