Travel from Rhodes to Athens aboard Running on Waves on an eight-day yoga journey across the Dodecanese and the Cyclades.
The route begins among the medieval towns, volcanic landscapes and spiritual landmarks of the Dodecanese before continuing west towards the whitewashed villages and dramatic coastlines of the Cyclades. Guests visit Nisyros, Kos, Patmos, Delos, Mykonos, Santorini and Milos, discovering active volcanic terrain, ancient healing centres, sacred sites, archaeological islands and some of the Aegean’s most distinctive seascapes.
Daily yoga sessions with a professional instructor become part of the natural rhythm of the voyage. Practices take place on board, surrounded by open sea and changing island scenery, with additional sessions ashore whenever the schedule and local conditions allow. Morning practices prepare the body for walking, swimming and exploration, while slower evening sessions create time to recover and reset.
Between destinations, guests can swim directly from the ship, snorkel, kayak, windsurf or relax in jacuzzi. Sailing practices and onboard entertainment may also be arranged according to the weather, route and preferences of the group.
Full-board dining, spacious outdoor decks and a limited number of guests create a comfortable setting throughout the retreat. This cruise is designed for travellers who want to combine yoga, island-hopping, cultural discovery and time at sea, moving gradually from the eastern Dodecanese towards Athens.
Afternoon
Arrive in Rhodes and make your way to the port to board Running on Waves. After settling into your cabin, meet the crew, the yoga instructor and the other guests joining the retreat.
Depending on your arrival time, explore Rhodes Old Town before embarkation. Walk through its fortified gates, along cobbled streets and past stone buildings shaped by the island’s medieval history.
Evening
The voyage begins with a welcome and safety briefing, followed by the first dinner on board.
The instructor introduces the retreat programme and explains how yoga sessions will be adapted to the sailing schedule and the destinations visited during the week.

Morning
Begin the first full day of the retreat with yoga on deck, followed by breakfast overlooking the island’s steep coastline and whitewashed harbour settlement.
Day
Go ashore to explore one of the Aegean’s most distinctive volcanic islands. The programme may include a visit to the island’s caldera and the Stefanos crater, where the pale volcanic surface, mineral colours and rising steam create an almost otherworldly landscape.
Spend time in Mandraki, the island’s main town, walking through narrow streets lined with white houses and dark volcanic-stone details. Other possibilities include the hillside village of Nikia, viewpoints above the caldera or one of the island’s natural hot-spring areas.
The ship remains near Nisyros until approximately 18:00, allowing time for exploration and a quieter practice ashore when conditions permit.
Evening
Return to Running on Waves for dinner and an evening yoga session focused on recovery after the day’s walking.
The ship leaves Nisyros and continues towards nearby Kos.

Morning
Begin the day with yoga on deck, followed by breakfast as Running on Waves remains near Kos.
The island has a long association with health and healing, making it a natural setting for a retreat centred on movement, balance and recovery.
Day
Go ashore to explore Kos Town, where archaeological remains, palm-lined streets and the harbour sit alongside cafés, local markets and cycling paths.
An optional excursion may lead to the Asclepion of Kos, one of the ancient world’s most important healing centres and closely connected with Hippocrates. The terraced archaeological site is set on a green hillside with views across the island and towards the coast of Asia Minor.
There may also be time to visit the Castle of the Knights, walk around the old harbour or spend part of the day swimming at one of the island’s beaches.
Evening
Return to Running on Waves for dinner and a slower yoga practice.
Spend the evening on deck as the ship continues north towards Patmos.

Morning
Wake near Patmos and begin the day with a gentle yoga session before breakfast.
Known for its spiritual heritage and restrained island atmosphere, Patmos provides one of the most reflective settings of the cruise.
Day
Go ashore in Skala and continue towards Chora, where white houses and historic mansions surround the fortified Monastery of Saint John the Theologian.
The programme may also include the Cave of the Apocalypse, traditionally associated with the visions of Saint John that led to the Book of Revelation.
Away from the main religious landmarks, Patmos offers quiet lanes, small coves and hillside views across the Aegean. When conditions allow, part of the day may be used for a yoga practice ashore in a peaceful setting away from the harbour.
Evening
Return to Running on Waves for dinner and time on deck.
The evening practice focuses on breathing and relaxation as the ship leaves the Dodecanese and begins its passage towards the Cyclades.

Morning
Begin the day with yoga on deck as Running on Waves approaches Delos. Arrival is scheduled for approximately 09:30.
Delos is one of Greece’s most important archaeological islands and was regarded in ancient mythology as the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis.
Day
Go ashore to walk through the remains of the ancient sanctuary and city. Temples, marketplaces, private houses and surviving mosaics form an extensive open-air archaeological landscape.
The island has no permanent civilian population, which gives the site a particularly quiet atmosphere once visitors move away from the main pathways.

Evening
Enjoy an evening in Mykonos at your own pace or return to Running on Waves for dinner and a restorative yoga session.
The contrast between the archaeological stillness of Delos and the energy of Mykonos makes this one of the most varied days of the journey.

Morning
Begin the day with yoga as Running on Waves approaches Santorini.
Breakfast is served on board with views of the island’s volcanic cliffs, where white settlements rise above the dark rock walls of the caldera.
Day
Go ashore to explore Santorini independently or join an optional guided excursion.
Walk through Fira, continue towards one of the cliffside villages or visit Oia for views across the caldera. Other possibilities include the archaeological site of Akrotiri, a local vineyard or one of the island’s volcanic beaches.
Between sightseeing stops, take time for mindful walking and quieter observation of the landscape rather than trying to cover the entire island in one day.
Evening
Return to Running on Waves for dinner and an evening yoga session focused on mobility and recovery.
The ship leaves Santorini and continues west towards Milos.

Morning
Wake near Milos and begin the final full day of the retreat with yoga on deck.
The island is shaped by volcanic geology, with pale rock formations, colourful cliffs, sea caves and small fishing settlements scattered around its coastline.
Day
Go ashore to explore the island or spend time near the water.
Possible highlights include Sarakiniko, known for its smooth white rock formations, or the colourful fishing village of Klima, where traditional boat houses stand directly beside the sea.
Depending on the sailing schedule and weather conditions, the ship may also explore part of the coastline from the water. Milos is particularly suited to swimming, snorkelling and kayaking around sheltered bays and rocky formations.
There is time for a final yoga practice ashore or on deck, bringing together the movement and breathing techniques used throughout the week.
Evening
Gather for the farewell dinner and the final evening yoga session of the retreat.
Running on Waves leaves Milos and begins the overnight passage towards Athens.
